International & Visiting Campers

Firstly, we are so excited that you may be joining us in Los Angeles in the near future!

We LOVE having campers join us at Wildfolk from other countries! It provides a unique learning experience for both our local campers, and those visiting. Thank you for considering us!

Here are some responses to questions you may have...

Knowledge of English

While some knowledge of English makes for a more comfortable, smooth transition, we've also had campers with zero English knowledge, and we managed to get them integrated into camp life in a short time.

Integration

One of our Camp Intentions- The 7 C's- is Community-Minded & it's at the foundation of all that we do. Our Guides are trained and experienced in helping to support our campers in creating their own Tribe culture, within their group. And a part of that culture is to embrace our diversity, celebrate our unique, authentic selves, and be a kind and compassionate member of the tribe.

The LA Experience

At Camp Wildfolk, your child will have a chance to be a part of a progressive, child-centered program that aims to help your child explore their interests and expand their confidence in expressing the things that make them authentically who they are! They will form connections with American children & possibly children from other countries, too. They will explore, play, experiment, try, risk, fail, laugh, & HAVE A BALL!

We've had campers visit us from:

china, korea, saudi arabia, Dubai, london, Paris, India, & beyond!

Here's what a few of our International families had to say about their experience at Camp Wildfolk:

"The girls are having a fabulous time.  They have been going to multiple camps in both London and Dubai and this is their favourite. – Shahnaz Q.

"At the beginning of the first week, I worried a little about my kids because they are not good at English and new environments.  As time   passed, I found my children were getting to be very excited.  Our kids couldn’t wait for Monday to go back to  camp after each week ended. The camp was very well organized, too." -Jeewoon S.

"ls it too early to sign-up for next summer? My boys just loved it & it was really good for them.  I definitely want to bring them back!" -  Xihui Z.

What to bring?

1. Comfortable clothing your kids can get messy in!

2. Water wear

(swimsuit, towel, water shoes/sandals)

3. Sunscreen

4. Silly Clothes

(you don't need to pack full-out costumes, but a silly hat or cape can go a long way!)

5. Comfy, closed-toe sneakers!

6. A drawstring bag & lunchbox are helpful!

7. An open mind & open heart! (aww!)

We're Awesome, but we might not be right for you...

Camp Wildfolk is a special, unique day camp unlike any other in Los Angeles. We think we offer a pretty fantastic program, but we might not be the best fit for you.

We're about getting hands-on to have fun- which means we aren't at a pristine location that is worried if some paint gets on the floor, or chalk is left on the yard.

Our approach is progressive and child-centered. We don't do "time-outs" or traditional "discipline" and we aim to have children at the center of their own conflict resolution.

Our camp is still growing- so while we can provide very individualized attention (our Owner is on-site every day making sure we are meeting the goals of our mission) and we get to know each camper and family, we don't have some of the resources available to us that larger camps may have.

Check Us Out!

Since you don't have an opportunity to attend our Camp Tour prior to camp starting, we want to be sure we set-up realistic expectations. We encourage you to view photos of our site, explore our Photos on Facebook & Instagram to get a feel for camp, & contact our Director, Cassie, with any additional questions or conerns you may have.

We hope to get WILD with you in Los Angeles, soon!
