Meet Our 2022 Valley Village
Summer Leadership Team (TLC)

valleytlccc.JPG

Poppy
Site Director

"I didn't grow up going to camp so wildfolk is a place to connect with my inner child. Being silly, sharing struggles and just bonding with someone by being your true self is what camp is all about and to me summer is a season of growth and opportunities. It's a space where I can learn from others and watch ideas come to life."

Poppy is a cheerful, loving camp all star. She received her bachelors in Early childhood education in Boston and after college was a lead preschool teacher in Florida for a few years. In 2017 she spent her summer working at camp wildfolk as Jitterbug Guide. She loved everything about camp and CA that she officially moved at the beginning of 2018. Worked with City year and has worked at Wildfolk for 6 summers straight. Every year she has grown from guided to leadership and truly embodies wildfolk spirit so much that she has recently joined our year round Wildfolk HQ team. On days she isn't working with wildfolk she nannies for wildfolk families.

Ziggy
HQ Coordinator

"I used to go to a camp every single summer, and it was typically the highlight of my summer. I loved all the activities, being aroung my friends but also meeting new people. I loved the freedom it seemed to give all of us. I loved being inspired by all the different counselors. And obviously, I loved the memories (and ridiculous pictures) camp always gave me to look back on."

Ziggy attended the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) where they received their BA in Theatre Performance, with a minor in psychology. They hope to turn their Psych minor into a BA, as well, in the near future. Ziggy lived in Los Angeles for a stint after to college to get a taste of life in LA. Finally, after a few years of saving, planning, and trying to survive a pandemic, they finally made the big move. Ziggy and their partner currently reside in Burbank while the two of them try their hands at the acting business. When Ziggy isn't acting, they work as a high school tutor, writing coach, and freelance editor. Ziggy moonlights as a screenwriter, playwright, and podcast creator. They co-host a show called "Nelsons & Nonsense" with their sister. In their free time, Ziggy loves: going to the movies, listening to True Crime stories, seeing live music, roller skating, singing, and talking with their family. Having only been in LA for a year now, Ziggy is elated to work at a place like Camp Wildfolk and to make new connections with some fellow kind humans. Let's go!

"I was a child of two full time working parents. Therefore, camp was a necessary form of childcare come every summer, winter, and spring break. Camp was a place where I was always free to be myself and pursue my passions. The friendships I made at camp are still some of the most influential relationships I've had in my life. Now that I'm an adult, working at a camp brings me back to a place of childhood wonder and joy."

Ten years ago she began teaching kids dance and musical theater, and from that moment on decided to pursue a career in education!
