Young Folks Coordinator

The Young Folks Coordinator (YFC) is responsible for overseeing the quality, flow, and safety of the Young Folks program for Pre-Kinder, TK, and Kindergarten campers (ages 4+). 

The Young Folks program operates in conjunction with the main camp, with an alternate, age-appropriate schedule. It is designed to be child-centered, project-based, and inspired by Reggio and Montessori educational paradigms. 

 

The YFC oversees the Young Folks’ staff, curriculum, and schedule. They ensure all activities are set-up and implemented in a manner that aligns with the mission. They are experts at this unique age range and the developmental milestones associated.

 

All of our Leadership Team roles have specific tasks and responsibilities, but there are a few common TLC traits we are looking for across the board:

  • commitment to joy + silliness

  • leads with their heart

A Young Folks Coordinator must be:

  • Expert in early childhood development

  • Coaching/Mentoring skills

  • Knowledgeable of Reggio and/or Montessori methods

  • Time-Management

  • Proactive Communicator 

  • Able to Zoom-Out to oversee the big picture of the flow 

  • Skills at conflict resolution with littles

  • A team player

  • at least 23 years of age

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversees the general flow, safety, and quality of the Young Folks program through formal and informal observations

  • Supervise the Young Folks team, ensuring Young Folks Leaders and Guides are clear on expectations and working to their highest potential

  • Coach Guides in scaling up projects and activities (never “dumbing down” or oversimplifying), knowing what’s do-able and safe

  • Manage the big picture of the session schedule, including tasks and activities both by week and day, and ensure all aspects are followed

  • Gather, Prepare, and Maintain all supplies needed for activities- creating CA Prep Sheets as needed to have supplies made Young-Folks ready

  • Liaison between the Young Folks program and main camp during TLC meetings and check-ins with the Camp Director/Site Director

  • Communicate with Young Folks families in a positive, proactive, professional manner at all times. Keep Site Director apprised of important updates

  • Complete Young Folks Incident Reports and discuss with the Site Director at end of each day (time-sensitive incidents must be submitted at time of event) 

  • Complete Young Folks “Clipboard Updates” and submit to Site Director 

  • Ensure Wildfolk Quality Assessment is being met and remedy if not

*this is not inclusive of all responsibilities. There are a number of other specific tasks that will be outlined in more detail during training.

 

YFC regular hours are 7:50am-3:20pm  (Mondays: 7:20am) ​

Select Staff After-Camp Meetings: 7:30am- 4:00pm

$22/hour
